About
North Star Tyre Remoulds was established in 1953 by two professional footballers - John Battye and Eddie Boot who both played for Huddersfield Town.
By the end of the 50's remound tyre production had started and the vulcanising of conveyor belts were in full swing. Conveyor belting was a huge part of the company with power stations being the largest customers.
In the 60's and 70's remouldes were a popular choice around the area but the industy was to change with the introduction of radial tyres. Both John adn Eddie's sons joined the company along with a good work force makring North Star a true family.
Towards the late 70's remound tyres were being out priced by the main tyre manufacturers and so production was fazed out. In 1979 the business was split and Johns son Steven took the tyre side forward and the business has gone on from strength to strength and over the years has built up a great customer base. After Steve's retirement it has been left for the next generation to contiune our family business.
